The Masters of the Universe: Rade Krunic

King Krunic

“If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. Do whatever you can and never stop trying.”

-Rade Krunic

The phrase of the warrior from Bosnia can very well sum up the footballers ability to play nearly every position on the pitch. Since 2019, Rade Krunic has been Milan’s Renaissance man or sage if you will, as he consistently rescues the club from empty positions due to injury or suspension. Not only does he have the basic understanding of these positions, he excels in them.

Who is Rade Krunic a.k.a. Darth Krunic?

Darth Krunic

Rade Krunic was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 7, 1993 right in the middle of the Bosnian War which had began just a year earlier. Ignited by the breakup of Yugoslavian Serbian and Croatian political party, the war lasted for about 2 more years after the birth of the young king Krunic. This was a brutal war for the Bosnian citizens to the point where it gave NATO a reason to join which only triggered Russian skepticism for their involvement. Being born in the Powder Keg of Europe, Rade had to quickly learn to overcome opposition and adversity. I don’t imagine any worrying about the Derby Della Madonnina, might as well be a game of bingo with the grandparents in comparison.

King Krunic

His Football career began in Bosnia-Herzegovina with the club FK Sutjeska Foca before being signed by Empoli in the Serie A in 2015. Although he had a quick encounter with Serie A playing for Hellas Verona, he was not able to show what he could really do. Rade’s career was going to the next level with the Gli Azzurri as he was able to show how he can easily thread defenders, take the ball straight at the opposition and even showed a “cool as a cucumber” chip shot over the keeper during a game against Sassuolo.

Rade Krunic signed with AC Milan in 2019.

For AC Milan, Krunic has been the most underrated player which gets further hidden by his modest and humble persona. With an average of 83% pass percentage and a wondrous freekick which still leaves me baffled why Pioli does not have him take more, the stats don’t tell the whole story. The ability to take nearly any attacking to mid position gives the Rossoneri a bit of a secret weapon when the opposing team thinks they have a one up due to an injury. During the game against Napoli, the Bosnian seemed to be leveling up as the Paramount analyst labeled him a Trequartista after a beautiful chip pass over defenders to CDK. Just before this, Krunic had a very tight through ball to Giroud who was nearly denied by the keeper.

As for this Milanista, I will only show Krunic nothing but appreciation.
